Computer Aided Engineering is a broad term describing the use of computer technology to aid in the design, manufacture, handling, or transport of goods and services. It is a widespread tool used in every aspect of the services offered by Heggies. Sophisticated modelling software assists in the measurement, analysis and prediction and assessment of noise, vibration, water and air pollutant emissions. CAE helps us to develop efficient and cost-effective solutions for our client projects across all our service areas.

Three areas of Heggies services making particular use of the most recent and revolutionary CAE techniques include:

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics - CFD
  • Computer Aided Design - CAD
  • Light in the Built Environment

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling includes a variety of sophisticated computer simulation methods aimed at predicting fluid flows under well-defined physical geometry conditions.

CFD modelling can be used to simulate 3-Dimensional flow problems, both internal and external, as well heat transfer, fluid mixing and combustion simulations. Predictions of many parameters can made including velocity, pressure, temperature, humidity, concentration etc. Applications range from the external aerodynamics of bluff bodies to the simulation of fire and smoke dispersion and even aero-acoustic noise prediction.

Heggies services in this area encompass:

  • Wind Engineering Applications
  • HVAC & R Applications
  • Environmental and Air quality modelling
  • Aerodynamics
